The popular nightspot Madrigal’s is headed for The Big Easy.

According to a press release issued by club owner Juan Nieves, Madrigal’s will be taking over a building on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. Incidentally, the new spot will be adjacent to two popular gay bars: Bourbon Pub and Oz.

Nieves conceded that “ [ s ] tarting another business all over again in a new city is going to be a challenge.” However, he also said that he is “very excited” about the new development.

The change in geography is not the only shift club employees will experience, as the new space will be over three times the size of the current one ( from 1,500 to 5,000 square feet ) . Nieves added that the Southern spot should open June 1, but that “the show lounge will not be ready for a couple of months beyond that.”

Madrigal’s last day at its Chicago location—5316 N. Clark—will be June 11, the second day of Andersonville’s Midsommerfest. During its final week ( starting June 5 ) , the daily shows will run an hour earlier, at 9 instead of 10 p.m.

Nieves also thanked everyone who helped Madrigal’s become such a popular place: “A thousand thanks to all the wonderful people who helped make Madrigal’s what it’s become. I’ll miss each of you. I will never forget your support, friendship and goodwill. ¡Muchisimas gracias!”
